Scottie Scheffler posted a fine round of 65 on day three of the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

While Scheffler is still not at his brilliant best, he has proven his undeniable class this week by hanging on the coattails of Si Woo Kim while playing in second gear.

The 29-year-old world number one trails the South Korean by just two strokes heading into the final round at TPC Craig Ranch on Sunday.

Scottie Scheffler won the CJ CUP Byron Nelson at a canter in 2025, and he will be desperate to defend his title on Sunday in McKinney, Texas.

However, Si Woo Kim will take some beating. The 30-year-old, who lives in Dallas, just like Scheffler, has been in scintillating form this week.

Si Woo Kim was desperate to play with Scottie Scheffler on day three on the CJ CUP, having been in the same group as the world number one for the first two rounds.

That didn’t happen on Saturday, but he will get his wish for the final round.

Scheffler addressed the media after posting a third round score of six-under par 65 at TPC Craig Ranch on Saturday afternoon.

And he responded when asked whether he is excited to play alongside his good friend Si Woo on Sunday in his home state.

Yeah, Si Woo, he’s a great guy, the world number one said.

He’s a great competitor. I’m looking forward to the challenge of going to chase him down tomorrow. He’s one of the most talented guys we have out here on TOUR.

I think two shots back going into tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to the challenge. It’s always fun when I get to play with Si Woo.

I think it’s good for the community to have two guys that are local up there on the leaderboard. Should be a fun day tomorrow.

Scottie Scheffler’s stats on day three of the CJ CUP

Scheffler’s ball striking was much more like what we’ve been used to seeing from him over the past few years.

He ranked 15th in strokes gained off the tee and 18th in strokes gained approach on Saturday at TPC Craig Ranch.

The world number one ranked 19th in strokes gained around the greens – a vast improvement on his first two rounds.

Scottie Scheffler ranked 15th in strokes gained putting and he was ranked T-2 in strokes gained overall, having gained 3.677 strokes on the field on day three of the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

Scheffler trails Si Woo Kim by two strokes heading into the final round on Sunday, but he is still the favorite to win.

If his putter gets hot during the final round, he will almost certainly claim his 21st PGA Tour title.
