The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners both moved on from their managers Monday following difficult 2026 campaigns.
The Angels declined Kurt Suzuki's club option for 2027, removing him after the club finished 62-100 and recorded its first 100-loss season in franchise history. The team dropped 10 games from its 2025 total under Ron Washington and Ray Montgomery. Angels interim general manager John Mozeliak faces an uncertain future with the organization, which Arte Moreno sold to Stan Kroenke in September; Kroenke is scheduled to take over in the first quarter of 2027.
Seattle's Dan Wilson announced last month he would not return for a third season. Hired in August 2024 to replace Scott Servais, Wilson guided the Mariners through a 2026 season in which they won only four of their first 13 games and never climbed more than four games above .500. Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez endured season-long struggles at the plate.
Wilson's tenure ended with Sunday's 7-3 victory over the Angels. "This season has been very difficult, and of course the results have not been what any of us had expected," he said.
