Q: You still sold on Donovan Mitchell not wanting to go somewhere if the Cavs get swept? They don’t look like a team that has enough. – Chris.

A: Well, they certainly looked like a team that had enough through the first 3 1/2 quarters of the series opener against the Knicks, before it all came crashing down. And regardless of the results going forward, this still is Donovan Mitchell’s first trip to the conference finals, so there’s that. Plus, Donovan would benefit from a contractual/salary standpoint by waiting until the 2027 offseason to address his future And if he does opt for what he might perceive as greener vistas, it’s not as if a Heat team coming off consecutive 10th-place finishes has cast itself as a target destination. Then again, it will be interesting to see what James Harden does with his contract and what impact that could have on Donovan. Harden is not exactly setting up as a playoff teammate of choice, including his team-worst minus-22 in Thursday night’s loss in New York.

A: Milwaukee certainly will ask for anything and everything. So, yes, it could be put into play. As for No. 41, that is awfully deep into the draft to predict. That last time the Heat had a second rounder, in 2024, I lobbied for Jamal Shead, who went No. 45, landing with the Raptors, one pick after the Heat got Pelle Larsson at No. 44. So, in that case, I guess win-win. Rueben Chinyelu would have been a consideration here with the Heat’s No. 41, but he instead is returning to Florida.

Q: Giannis Antetokounmpo is gonna make some extra money on this trade because you are still going to have plenty of people who won’t believe he’s going to Miami ’til it happens. — Will.

A: His agreement with Kalshi certainly is unique in that he is an active proposition on the predictive market. So, in many ways, Giannis will have the real option of being able to bet on himself. (Unless he already has.)
