The St. Louis Blues have placed defenseman Marc-Andre Gaudet on waivers, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday afternoon.

Gaudet, 22, is under contract through the end of the 2026-27 season at an $877,500 NHL cap hit. The 6’3″, left-shot defenseman spent the entirety of the 2025-26 season with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds, collecting five goals and 20 points in 53 games; he added one goal and four points in 11 playoff contests with the club.

The Blues originally selected Gaudet in the fifth round (No. 152 overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. The Moncton, N.B. product is entering the final year of his entry-level deal with the Blues and can become a restricted free agent next summer.

Gaudet played his junior hockey in the QMJHL with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Chicoutimi Sagueneens, and Sherbrooke Phoenix. He signed his entry-level deal with the Blues in December of 2022, midway through his final junior season.

After concluding his QMJHL career with 15 goals and 61 points in 66 games split between Chicoutimi and Sherbrooke in 2022-23, as well as nine points in 14 playoff games with the Phoenix, Gaudet turned pro with the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears in 2023-24. He scored 26 points in 55 games with Orlando as a first-year pro and also appeared in his first eight games with the Thunderbirds.

Gaudet split the 2024-25 campaign between Springfield and the ECHL’s Florida Everblades before establishing himself as a full-time player with the Thunderbirds in 2025-26. He ranked second behind Calle Rosen among all Springfield defenders in scoring.

Hours before being waived, Gaudet skated as an extra defenseman in Blues training camp with the “non-game group” — the players who won’t be taking part in Saturday’s preseason game against the Dallas Stars at Enterprise Center in St. Louis. It remains to be seen whether the Blues will announce any further cuts from their training camp roster shortly.
