The Boston Bruins defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 on Friday night at Honda Center, extending their winning streak to four games.
Boston entered the contest having outscored opponents 17-5 during its previous three victories. Michael DiPietro stopped 25 of 27 shots for the Bruins. Lukas Dostal made 18 saves on 22 shots for Anaheim, which fell to 0-2 on its homestand after a 4-2 loss to Calgary on Tuesday.
The Ducks played without captain Mikael Granlund, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and Ryan Poehling. Cutter Gauthier moved to second-line center for his first full game at the position since his NHL debut in spring 2024. Nikita Klepov, in his second career appearance, skated on the top line with Leo Carlsson and Alex Killorn and showed poise beyond his experience level.
Anaheim's special teams struggled throughout the evening. The power play went 0 for 5, while the penalty kill surrendered three goals on four shorthanded situations. "A little bit of our details we lost towards the end of the second and the third," Jackson LaCombe said.
The Ducks placed Poehling on IR, recalled McQueen and assigned Helleson to debut. Gauthier is day-to-day. Anaheim travels to face the New York Rangers on Monday at Madison Square Garden at 4 p.m. PST.
