Defender Trevoh Chalobah has expressed regret at leaving Chelsea, saying he hoped to become a legend at the club where he spent nearly two decades.
Chalobah, 27, joined Chelsea at age eight and made more than 150 appearances for the senior side. He won two Club World Cups, an FA Cup and the Conference League with the London club. Despite believing last season ranked among his best, he was deemed surplus to requirements and sold to Italian side Como for £30 million ($40.1 million) in the summer.
The England international told The Athletic he had been at Chelsea since childhood and wanted legendary status there. He noted that he played most games last season and scored several goals.
Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, now Como manager, recruited Chalobah by reaching out over the summer to explain the Italian club's project. Chalobah called the move abroad an easy decision. He remains in contact with Chelsea players and staff and continues to watch their matches.
