Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. has been charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession following an October traffic stop in Carmel, Indiana.
A Carmel patrol officer pulled Richardson over on Oct. 12 due to questions about his car registration. The officer reported smelling marijuana inside the vehicle. Richardson told officers he had been smoking marijuana in the car to avoid doing so around children at home, according to police. He was detained in handcuffs while officers searched his Dodge Charger. Police located a small quantity of marijuana and THC gummies weighing 500 milligrams inside the glove compartment.
Richardson was permitted to depart without being arrested. He received a citation for expired registration and a summons for marijuana possession. The charge was officially filed Monday, with a bench trial scheduled for Jan. 4.
The Colts issued a brief statement: "We are aware of the situation involving Anthony Richardson and are currently gathering additional information."
