Como stunned Manchester United 4-1 in Champions League group play Wednesday at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, the 10,000-seat venue hosting a memorable night for the Italian club's first-ever European campaign.
Nico Paz delivered a standout performance, scoring twice and earning Player of the Match honors. The former Real Madrid midfielder also set up Anastasios Douvikas for Como's second goal. Paz, who has been mentioned as a potential future wearer of Lionel Messi's No. 10 jersey with Argentina, was central to the dominant display.
The victory gave Como two wins in three matches to open their debut Champions League season, lifting them to ninth place in the standings.
Cesc Fàbregas, the Como coach and former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder, acknowledged his emotions after the result. "I can't lie to you that it wasn't pride," he said.
