While many have speculated whether we’d ever see the three Hughes brothers on the same team, one of them isn’t confident it could happen…at least anytime soon.

When speaking to reporters at the NHL Player Media Tour in Las Vegas, New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes was asked whether he was jealous that the Tkachuk brothers, Brady and Matthew, have united with the Florida Panthers, and whether there’s a desire for him and Luke to be joined in New Jersey by their eldest brother, Quinn.

Asked Jack Hughes on whether there's a bit of envy seeing the Tkachuks united. Do he and Luke long for Quinn?

A very thoughtful answer from the #NJDevils superstar, pointing out that Brady's deal was much easier to move than Quinn's next AAV would be…

Jack admitted that he isn’t envious of the Tkachuk brothers getting together, noting that it’s easier to move Brady’s contract compared to what Quinn will be making in his next deal. He also acknowledged that he already enjoys playing with brother Luke in the Garden State.

“No, not at all because there’s so much that goes into play, right?” Jack said. “Brady’s making $8.1 (million), I mean, that’s a much easier contract to move. Me and Luke are playing together. Matthew and Brady are now playing together. It’s much easier for two brothers to play together than three.”

Quinn is heading into the final season of his six-year contract, which he signed with the Vancouver Canucks back in October 2021. The Minnesota Wild defenseman’s cap hit is $7.85 million, though many suspect that he will be well above eight figures when his next deal comes to pass.

“Quinn is one of the best players in the league and has a huge deal that’s going to be coming,” Jack added. “Yeah, I’m happy for Matthew and Brady because I know how much fun they’ll have because I get to do that with Luke, and I’m excited for them.”

Luke and Jack have been playing together since Luke signed with the Devils in the spring of 2023. The two have been bright spots on an up-and-down in New Jersey ever since. Quinn is considered one of the best players in the league, but the cost of having all three donning one crest is easier said than done.
