The former center captained the Ducks for 12 seasons, won a Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007, and stands as the franchise’s all-time leader in points (1,019), assists (737), and games played (1,157).

The number retirement ceremony will take place at Honda Center on January 30, 2027 ahead of a home game against the Nashville Predators. Two nights earlier, ahead of a home game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Ducks will have a celebration for the 20th anniversary of their 2007 Stanley Cup Championship team.

Getzlaf will join Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, and Scott Niedermayer as the only players to have their jersey number retired by the franchise.

In a press release from the team, the Samuelis shared their appreciation for Getzlaf’s contributions to the Ducks organization.

“Ryan Getzlaf’s impact on the Ducks will be felt for generations to come,” the owners said. “While no player in club history played more games or scored more points, it’s his leadership, championship DNA and community contributions we will remember most. He’s a legacy player who rightfully will have his jersey hung alongside Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya and Scott Niedermayer at Honda Center.”

Getzlaf also expressed his gratitude for the honor of having his number retired.

“My family and I are so grateful to the Samuelis and the Ducks organization for this incredible honor,” said Getzlaf. “None of this would be possible without all the amazing teammates, coaches and support staff I had in my career. I thank them all and can’t wait to celebrate in front of our great fans in January.”

Selected 19th overall by Anaheim in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Getzlaf spent his entire 17-year NHL career with the Ducks.
