The Calgary Flames have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with forward prospect Chase Harrington, the club announced Tuesday afternoon.

Harrington, 18, was named captain of the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs on Saturday and recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick (along with a second assist) in his 2026-27 season debut. The Flames originally selected the 6’1″, 203-pound left wing in the second round (No. 36 overall) of the 2026 NHL Draft.

According to the Flames, Harrington’s entry-level deal carries an average annual value of $1.075 million. His deal won’t take effect in the next two seasons unless he appears in at least nine games with the Flames in either one; otherwise, it’ll slide twice before starting in the 2028-29 season.

Harrington is starting what will likely go down as his fourth and final full season with the Chiefs, who originally selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2022 WHL Bantam Draft. In 195 career WHL games with the Chiefs, Harrington has amassed 54 goals and 133 points; he’s added eight goals and 19 points in 29 playoff contests.

As a 2007-born player, Harrington is in his final year of eligibility to potentially represent Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship. The Prince George, B.C. product was named to Canada’s roster for the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase, putting him in the running to wear the maple leaf at the 2027 tournament in Edmonton and Red Deer.

Harrington is the first member of Calgary’s 2026 draft class to sign an entry-level contract with the team. First-round picks Carson Carels and Jack Hextall both went from the junior ranks to the NCAA over the summer and won’t sign with the Flames until they’re done at school; the same is true for fellow second-rounder Tobias Trejbal.

With an NHL contract now in his back pocket, Harrington is slated to play his second game as Chiefs captain (and his first on the road) on Friday against the Portland Winterhawks.
