Rumors are circulating online that Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Jadarian Price “is expected to step right into the Kenneth Walker role”, but it’s more of a clever rewording than a new report of information.
Accounts such as JPA Football below are posting this language and attributing it to Brady Henderson, but it’s important to understand it’s an inference and not an actual quote.
This rumor is based on an actual quote from Henderson, where he wrote “it’s best to view him as the Seahawks’ replacement for Walker as opposed to their clear-cut RB1.” This was published in his ESPN article on May 9th but the rumor’s been making the rounds on social media since. In context, the quote’s more descriptive of Price’s role in the offense, not his workload, and goes as far as to clarify that he won’t be an immediate bellcow running back, as “stepping into Walker’s role” would suggest on the surface.
The Seahawks backfield will take time to shake out. There are no guarantees as to how many carries or snaps any of Price, Emanuel Wilson, and George Holani will get in Week 1, much less how the workload split will look once Zach Charbonnet returns. The best way to see them right now is through their skillsets, and Price is by far the closest to Walker’s prototype.
