The Winnipeg Jets are adding some forechecking tenacity to their forward depth.
On Wednesday, the team announced that they have signed winger Noah Gregor to a one-year, two-way contract.
The deal will carry a cap hit of $850,000 at the NHL level.
Gregor, 27, played 37 games for the Florida Panthers last season, putting up four goals and five assists for nine points. He also played 26 games for the Panthersā American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Charlotte Checkers, where he had 11 goals and six assists for 17 points. He then contributed two goals in Charlotteās three playoff games.
Initially a fourth-round pick by the San Jose Sharks in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Gregor played his junior hockey primarily with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League (WHL). In his final junior season of 2018-19, Gregor scored a whopping 43 goals and added 45 assists for 88 points in 63 games with the Prince Albert Raiders. He then had 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points in 23 postseason games en route to Prince Albert winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL champions.
Gregor then spent four years with the Sharksā organization, splitting time between the NHL and the AHLās San Jose Barracuda. He established himself as an NHLer over his final two years in San Jose, racking up 40 points over 120 games with the Sharks during that span.
In October of 2023, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Gregor to a one-year contract following a professional tryout (PTO). He had 12 points in 63 games with Toronto that season. He then joined the Ottawa Senators as an unrestricted free agent for the 2024-25 season, where he had six points in 40 games, before getting traded to the Sharks at the deadline. He signed on with Florida for last season following a PTO.
