A young winger is set to stay in the prairie lands for a little bit longer.

On Monday, the Winnipeg Jets announced that the team has signed forward Walker Duehr to a two-year, two-way contract extension. The deal, set to begin next season, will carry an NHL AAV of $875,000 through the 2027-28 campaign.

Duehr has come to the end of his one-year, two-way contract that he signed with the Jets last July. His new deal is a small pay bump, as he had a league-minimum cap hit of $775,000 and a minor-league salary of $400,000.

The 28-year-old ended up appearing in just three games with the Jets in 2025-26, each of which came in early March. He didn’t register a point, posting a plus/minus of -1 while averaging 9:39 of ice time per game. With extended time in the minors, Duehr had the best performance of his American Hockey League career. In 62 games with the Manitoba Moose, the Jets’ primary affiliate, the Sioux Falls, S.D. native set career highs in goals (17), assists (17) and points (34). He ended up finishing second on the team in goals and fifth in points, helping the Moose finish fourth in the AHL’s Central Division, defeating the Milwaukee Admirals in the first round, before falling to the Grand Rapids Griffins in the division semifinals in four games.

In 95 regular-season games in the NHL, which included stops with both the Calgary Flames and San Jose Sharks, Duehr has scored 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points, but has yet to appear in a Stanley Cup Playoff game. In 205 regular-season appearances in the AHL, he posted 59 goals and 53 assists for 112 points, with another 14 points in 33 Calder Cup Playoff games.
