New general manager John Chayka wasted little time significantly reshaping the on-ice product of the Toronto Maple Leafs, moving out players such as goaltender Joseph Woll and defenseman Brandon Carlo while bringing in players such as defenseman Darren Raddysh, forward Nick Paul, and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.

On Thursday, Chayka made it clear that the winds of change wouldn’t be limited to the roster. According to The Toronto Sun, the Leafs have let go of multiple members of their front office, including assistant general manager Darryl Metcalf, director of amateur scouting Mark Leach, and senior advisor Dave Morrison. Hayley Wickenheiser, the legendary Canadian women’s hockey player that had been an assistant general manager with Toronto since 2022, announced via Instagram that she will also be leaving the organization.

In total, there will be 11 total departures from the Leafs’ front office.

In a statement released by the team, Chayka addressed the large-scale slashing of Toronto’s front office.

“As part of our ongoing evaluation of the organization, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with some valued colleagues,” said Chayka. “These decisions were not easy and are not a reflection of the commitment of the impacted people. We are sincerely grateful for everything they have contributed to this organization and wish them nothing but the very best in the future.”

The longest tenured member of the organization to be relieved of their duties is Morrison, who joined the Leafs as an amateur scout in 2004. He was promoted to director of amateur scouting in 2006, and would also go on to serve the team’s director of pro scouting and director of player personnel. Metcalf joined the Leafs in 2014, and Leach was hired in 2024 by former GM Brad Treliving.

Assistant GM Brandon Pridham and special advisor Shane Doan are among those that had already left Toronto’s front office since the hiring of Chayka and senior executive advisor Mats Sundin.
