Harrington chose Michigan over his two other finalists, Alabama and Notre Dame. He had official visits set up to those other schools, but the expectation is he will now only officially visit to Michigan — that’s scheduled for June 19-21 for Victor’s Weekend.
He was offered by Michigan last June by the previous coaching staff, but new safeties coach Tyler Stockton and company picked up where the last staff left off in the recruitment. They got Harrington on campus most recently for the spring game, which left a big impression on him.
“I was still interested (in Michigan) because of the production of DBs and the Chicago pipeline they have going on,” Harrington told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($) after the spring game. “They do a great job of recruiting Chicago and playing Chicago guys.”
At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, the Chicago native — who is actually high school teammates with 2027 four-star wide receiver commit Quentin Burrell — is a versatile prospect that could play either cornerback or safety at the next level, as 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins wrote in his evaluation of Harrington’s game:
-Reactionary outside corner with the length that everyone covets these days.
-Can bump and run or play off-man in a Cover 2 look.
-Anticipates throws and drives to the catch point, usually arriving on schedule.
-Works to maintain leverage with his pedal and lateral quickness, but deep speed can present issues.
-Got much more involved as a run defender over the course of junior campaign and has showcased the ability to wrangle larger ball carriers down on the perimeter.
-Broke up 15 passes as a sophomore before coming down with three interceptions as a junior.
-Should be viewed as a taller zone cornerback with multi-year starter upside that could offer some safety flex given how he tackles and tracks the football.
Michigan is now up to 14 total commits in the 2027 class. Here’s a quick class breakdown:
- Four-star QB Kamden Lopati
- Four-star RB Tyson Robinson
- Three-star RB Lundon Hampton
