Orlando Magic small forward Noah Penda is expected to miss "significant time" after suffering a partially torn right hamstring in Friday's preseason finale against Miami, according to Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel.
No recovery timetable has been established. Penda's return will depend on how he responds to treatment.
The 21-year-old had previously dealt with a right hamstring issue in training camp, though that injury had fully healed. Beede notes the earlier ailment affected a different part of the hamstring.
Penda, the 32nd pick in the 2025 draft, appeared in 59 games as a rookie, averaging 3.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 12.8 minutes per contest.
The Magic are also monitoring Franz Wagner, who exited Friday's game with right shoulder soreness. Wagner was limited to a career-low 34 games last season due to injuries. Second-year guard Jase Richardson is day-to-day with low back soreness.
No word yet on Wagner's or Richardson's availability for Wednesday's season opener against Atlanta.
Mickey's Angle: Orlando's forward depth takes an early hit with Penda out indefinitely. Keep an eye on Wagner's shoulder status before locking in any Magic-related season-long plays.
