The kid's got stones, I'll give him that. Browns wideout KC Concepcion took a lick from Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick last Sunday that put him in concussion protocol — his first — but he's back in the lineup and ain't holding grudges.
Fitzpatrick got flagged 15 yards for unnecessary roughness and the league slapped him with a fine, which he's fighting. Concepcion? He's singing a different tune than most made men in his position.
"This game is a very physical game," the first-round rookie told Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com. "To me, it wasn't a dirty hit. It was just a football play."
Concepcion cleared protocol Friday and will suit up Sunday. The kid thanked the man upstairs for walking off the field, admitting the moment shook him despite his usual smiling, dancing demeanor.
Fitzpatrick maintains it was just a "football play" too. League office disagrees. The books don't care — they just want bodies on the field.
Mickey's Angle: Concepcion's toughness and maturity playing through his first concussion scare makes him a reliable target; don't fade the rookie if he's cleared and confident.
