The Philadelphia Eagles placed quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve Saturday, officially ending his regular season. To fill the roster spot, the team signed running back Jaydon Blue from the practice squad.
Blue joined Philadelphia after the Dallas Cowboys released him following the 2025 preseason. The fifth-round rookie carried 38 times for 129 yards and one touchdown in five appearances this season.
Philadelphia faces a depleted backfield heading into Sunday's matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Saquon Barkley is ruled out, and two other running backs remain on injured reserve. Blue will work alongside Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele in the rotation.
The Eagles also elevated linebacker Keyshawn James-Newby and safety Cole Wisniewski from the practice squad for Sunday's contest.
Mickey's Angle: The Eagles are scraping the barrel at running back, so keep expectations modest for Blue despite the opportunity.
