Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has spent the offseason familiarizing himself with the team's new offense and the work will continue at training camp this summer.
David Blough took over as the team's offensive coordinator after Kliff Kingsbury's departure in January and his approach will see Daniels under center more often than he was in his first two seasons. Daniels said the team has been focusing on the basics and will need to expand on that before the start of the regular season.
"I know we've got a lot more to go, but [we] just built the foundation. You just keep building off of it," Daniels said.
When asked what goes into the foundation, Daniels said "why we're attacking this play, what we want to do on this play" in addition to the terminology that they'll be using this year.
Daniels's rookie season included a trip to the NFC Championship Game and the offensive rookie of the year award, but he only played four full games in 2025 due to multiple injuries. Daniels said he's "done talking" about what went wrong last season and a quick start for Blough's offense this fall will help ensure that everyone else puts those discussions in the past.
