The PWHL has revealed the dates for when teams will open their 2026-27 training camps and when the preseason will begin.
According to a press release shared by the league Thursday, training camp rosters will be announced the week of Oct. 5, with each team inviting between 28 to 32 players. Training camps will open Nov. 18 after the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship in Denmark is completed. Teams will then compete in two scrimmages between Nov. 22 and 30.
“All preseason scrimmages will be 60 minutes of full stoppage gameplay with 21-player lineups, followed by a 3-on-3 overtime and a shootout, regardless of the score,” the league said in a statement.
Three of the league’s four expansion franchises — PWHL Hamilton, PWHL Las Vegas and PWHL San Jose — will host preseason scrimmages. The Toronto Sceptres will host the Ottawa Charge at Mattamy Athletic Centre (former Maple Leaf Gardens), which served as their home rink during the league’s inaugural season. The Boston Fleet will host the Montreal Victoire and New York Sirens at Boston Sports Institute.
