A young winger will continue to develop in the great province of Ontario.
On Friday, Ottawa Senators general manager Steve Staios announced that the team has signed forward Tyler Boucher to a one-year, two-way contract. According to PuckPedia, the deal will carry an NHL cap hit of $850,000 and a minor-league salary of $90,000 through the 2026-27 season.
Boucher had come to the end of his three-year, entry-level contract this past season. That deal had an NHL AAV of $1.6 million, thanks to a possible $500,000 in performance bonuses, as well as an American Hockey League cap hit of $80,000.
The Scottsdale, Ariz. native never had a chance to earn any performance bonuses, as he has yet to make his debut in the NHL. He has spent all three of his pro seasons so far with the Senators’ primary affiliate, the Belleville Senators. He has struggled to stay healthy with the B-Sens. Dating back to his draft year in 2021, Boucher has missed substantial time due to injury. In his first season with Belleville, he appeared in just 21 games before playing in just 47 games during the 2024-25 campaign.
This past year, appearing in another 47 games after being out weeks with an upper-body injury, the 23-year-old managed to set career highs in goals (12), assists (14) and points (26), though the Senators failed to qualify for the Calder Cup Playoffs.
In 115 games in the AHL, Boucher has posted 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points.
Prior to his pro career, Bouher was a solid player in junior with the Ottawa 67s. He also has some hardware from the international game, winning a silver medal with the United States at the 2019 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge, and bronze at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.
