Alright, it's Friday evening and we've got three games kicking off tonight that most folks won't bother with. That's fine by me. More room to watch.
Tulane at Charlotte - 7:00 PM, ESPN2
Charlotte is 1-6 and hurting. Cole Gonzales has thrown 7 interceptions against 3 touchdowns on the season. That's a tough number to work around. Tulane is 3-4 and not exactly rolling either, but Johnnie Daniels has been solid at 66 carries, 394 yards and 4 touchdowns. I'll be watching this one to see if Charlotte can do anything to change its trajectory before the year gets away from them entirely.
Baylor at UCF - 7:30 PM, ESPN
Both teams sitting at 4-3. UCF's Keyone Jenkins has been the most efficient quarterback on tonight's board: 108 of 159, 1099 yards, 11 touchdowns, 3 interceptions. That's a clean line. Baylor needs to have an answer for him.
Kent State at Sacramento State - 10:30 PM, ESPN2
This is the one I'm circling. Two young backs to track. Isaiah Ene at Sacramento State has 58 carries, 303 yards and a touchdown as the Hornets' rushing leader. Kent State's Brandon White has 68 carries and 235 yards. Both freshmen, both carrying real workloads. Wayne Harris at Kent State is also worth a look: 40 receptions, 552 yards, 4 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Sac State is 1-7. Kent State is 3-5. Neither team is going anywhere this year. But Ene and Harris are exactly the kind of players I'm out here to find early.
Anybody else making time for the late game tonight?
