The Toronto Sceptres have re-signed forward Sara Hjalmarsson to a two-year contract running through the 2027-28 season.
Hjalmarsson, a native of Bankeryd, Sweden, joined the Sceptres last season after playing in Sweden's SDHL. She was named 2024-25 Swedish Player of the Year. In her first campaign with Toronto, the forward recorded 3 goals and 0 assists across 30 games while filling a depth role in head coach Troy Ryan's system.
The three-time Olympian also represented Sweden at the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics, posting 2 goals, 3 assists and 5 points in 7 games. She has competed in six IIHF Women's World Championships. Hjalmarsson previously played college hockey at Providence College and was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 PWHL Draft.
Toronto has now signed 17 of 29 training camp players. The Sceptres finished fifth in the eight-team league last season and missed the Walter Cup Playoffs. Toronto will face PWHL Hamilton and Ottawa Charge in preseason action this November before opening its regular season Dec. 6 against Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre.
