Brothers and sisters, it's Friday night and the books have been busy all week. Here's what you need to know before Sunday. All statuses can still change by kickoff.
CAROLINA at PHILADELPHIA - Panthers come off a bye with 14 days rest. That extra week matters for a team getting healthy. Meanwhile the Eagles are without Saquon Barkley (RB, Philadelphia Eagles - hamstring, Out). Line opened PHI -6.5, sits CAR -3 now. That's a big swing. Worth knowing before you act.
BALTIMORE at CLEVELAND - Lamar Jackson (QB, Baltimore Ravens - ankle, Out) is the headline. Line opened BAL -6.5 and sits BAL -3 now, and the total dropped from 44.5 to 39.5. Books are pricing in a grind without Lamar. Weather is 57 degrees and sunny in Cleveland, so no excuses there.
PITTSBURGH at TAMPA BAY - Baker Mayfield (QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - thumb, Out) is out, and that total has fallen hard: opened 45.5, now 39.5. Tampa opened TB -1.5; now it's PIT -2.5, so the Steelers flipped to favorite on the road. Check Rico Dowdle (RB, Pittsburgh Steelers - toe, Questionable) and DK Metcalf (WR, Pittsburgh Steelers - illness, Questionable) before you finalize anything.
LA CHARGERS at KANSAS CITY - Chiefs are off a bye with 14 days rest. Line opened KC -2.5, now KC -7.5. Total dropped from 46.5 to 41.5. The books don't do us any favors, but that move is loud. Chargers are 0-5 and missing Joe Alt (OT, Los Angeles Chargers - neck, Out).
TITANS at INDIANAPOLIS - Tennessee is 0-5. Line opened IND -3.5, now IND -7. Total fell from 48.5 to 44.5. The Titans CEO is publicly standing by the coaching staff this week, which tells you something about where that organization is right now.
Verify all injury statuses Saturday and Sunday morning - these things move fast. Which of these line moves do you think has the most meat on the bone for a small bettor?
