The Colorado Avalanche will be without three forwards for their upcoming two-game road trip, the team announced. The absences come as the club continues to roll offensively despite roster challenges.
Brett McLean has been named assistant coach of the Avalanche, replacing Dave Hakstol. Hakstol departed to accept the head coaching position with the Arizona State University men's hockey program, the NHL confirmed.
T.J. Hughes marked a milestone by scoring his first goal, a key moment for the young player, according to the Denver Post.
Elsewhere around the league, the Philadelphia Flyers snapped their winless start. Brady Tkachuk is set for a hostile homecoming as he returns to face the Senators, his former club where he served as Ottawa Senators captain. Connor Hellebuyck remains in trade limbo and could rejoin the Jets once his suspension concludes. At Rogers Place, thousands of empty seats were visible during an Oilers game.
