Good Saturday morning, everybody. Lot of games kicking off today and I want to flag some younger players on teams that aren't getting much national attention. These are the guys I'd have my notebook open for.
Jordan Collins, TE, Navy Midshipmen — Navy is 2-5 and nobody's watching this one with #5 Notre Dame in town, but Collins has 6 REC, 212 YDS and 3 TD on the season. That's a big number for a tight end on a team that leans on the ground game. Worth seeing how they try to use him against a defense that caliber.
Tylik Hill, RB, Syracuse Orange — Syracuse is 3-4 hosting #19 SMU. Hill has carried it 88 times for 461 YDS and 1 TD. The touchdown total is low for that workload, which tells me they're leaning on him to move the chains more than finish drives. Big afternoon to show something.
Bryce Underwood, QB, Michigan Wolverines — Michigan is 4-3, unranked, going to Rutgers. Underwood is at 72/124, 924 YDS, 5 TD and 6 INT. The interceptions are a real thing, but so is the fact that he's clearly the guy. Rutgers is 2-5 so this is a spot where you want to see him clean it up.
Nate Sheppard, RB, Duke Blue Devils — Duke is 5-2 and unranked, hosting Boston College. Sheppard has 153 CAR, 875 YDS and 9 TD. That's a quiet monster season. Somebody should be talking about this kid more.
Also keep an eye on Aveion Chenault, WR, Western Michigan Broncos (28 REC, 431 YDS, 2 TD) in a MAC game against Bowling Green that could be a shootout.
Which of these guys do you think has the best shot at a signature performance today?
