The Boston Bruins extended their points streak to eight games Saturday night, defeating the San Jose Sharks 6-4 in a contest that saw both teams trade momentum into the final period.
The clubs were deadlocked 2-2 through two periods before Dmitry Orlov put San Jose ahead on a power-play marker at 4:03 of the third, his second goal of the season. The Sharks, who had entered with two consecutive victories and scored three special-teams goals in the game, could not hold the lead.
James Hagens answered for Boston in the third period, and David Pastrnak followed just 40 seconds later at 8:27, netting his seventh goal of the season. The tally, assisted by J.J. Peterka after he exited the penalty box, marked Pastrnak's 427th career goal, tying him with Patrice Bergeron for third place in franchise history.
Casey Mittelstadt, Marat Khusnutdinov, Fraser Minten and Will Morgan also scored for Boston. Jeremy Swayman made 21 saves to earn his seventh victory. Michael Misa, Kiefer Sherwood and Will Smith added goals for San Jose, while Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 29 shots. The Bruins have now won seven of their past eight games.
