Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, coach Spencer Carbery announced Wednesday.
Thompson was not practicing after being hurt Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Kings. The injury happened early in the second period when he lunged right on a rebound attempt. He lay on the ice briefly after the zone cleared but finished the contest, recording 21 saves in the 5-2 defeat.
Washington next plays Saturday night against the Buffalo Sabres. Thompson's status for that matchup is unclear.
In 7 appearances this season, Thompson has posted a 4-3-0 record, a 2.90 GAA and .901 SV%. He captured his first 3 starts before losing 3 of his past 4 decisions. Across 211 regular-season games, he owns a 122-62-23 record, 2.58 GAA, .911 SV% and 10 shutouts.
