Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea will return to the Cornhuskers for the 2027 season, his agent Noah Reisenfeld confirmed to ESPN.
Colandrea, currently third in the Big Ten in total offense at 271.9 yards per game, will play his fifth and final season of college eligibility. He started at Virginia, flourished at UNLV in 2025, and has become a dependable starter for Nebraska in 2026.
The deal gives coach Matt Rhule and general manager Pat Stewart stability at quarterback and a recruiting draw for portal targets and returning players. Rhule noted earlier this month that other programs had already shown interest in poaching Colandrea.
Colandrea has thrown 14 touchdowns against four interceptions this season while adding 334 rushing yards and four scores on the ground. He has led Nebraska to victories over Michigan State and Maryland.
The Huskers also hold a commitment from Trae Taylor III, the No. 3 quarterback in the 2027 SC Next 300, who plays at Millard South High School in Omaha.
Mickey's Angle: Nebraska now has both immediate stability and future upside at quarterback, making them an appealing destination for offensive talent hitting the transfer portal.
