Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor will undergo season-ending surgery on his injured toe, the university announced Tuesday.
The true sophomore injured the toe against Missouri on Sept. 26 and attempted to play through it against Alabama on Oct. 3 and Oklahoma on Saturday, leaving both games early. He missed the LSU game on Oct. 17. Taylor aggravated the injury in the first quarter against Oklahoma and did not return.
"Nobody wants to be on that field more than Kamario," coach Jeff Lebby said.
Taylor led Mississippi State to a 4-0 start with wins at Minnesota, at South Carolina, and over No. 19 Missouri. He finishes with 17 passing touchdowns, 1,460 passing yards, and a completion rate above 65%.
The university said he is expected to make a full recovery. Taylor has already drawn attention as a potential top prospect for the 2028 NFL Draft, the first he will be eligible for.
