ALCS Game 6 | Cleveland Guardians at Tampa Bay Rays | Tropicana Field | Mon Oct 19, 8:00 PM ET | TBS, truTV
TB leads series 3-2. Rays win tonight, they're in the World Series.
This one was supposed to go Friday but got pushed, so both clubs had an extra day sitting on what happened in Game 5. What happened was Drew Rasmussen going 7.0 innings, 4 hits, 1 ER, 6 strikeouts on 95 pitches and basically strangling Cleveland at Progressive Field. Parker Messick lasted 2.0 innings for the Guardians, gave up 5 hits and 2 ER on 57 pitches, and that was the ballgame early. Yandy Diaz went 3-5, Chandler Simpson and Liam Hicks each chipped in 2 hits, Bryan Baker closed it out. Final: TB 3, CLE 1.
Tonight Cleveland sends Shawn Armstrong – listed as RP, ERA 0.00 in this postseason run. That's a bullpen game for the Guardians, plain and simple. Tampa counters with Freddy Peralta, who's been nearly untouchable: ERA 0.79, W-1 in the stats ESPN has up. That's a tough draw for an 85-77 club trying to stay alive.
DraftKings opened CLE +108 and TB -130. Right now it's CLE +129, TB -156. Total sitting at 6.5 both ways. Market likes Tampa, and after what Rasmussen did yesterday it's hard to argue.
Steven Kwan went 2-4 for Cleveland in Game 5 and scored their only run. They need more than that tonight against Peralta.
Guardians are one loss from going home. Can a bullpen game actually keep them alive at Tropicana, or does Peralta just shut the door?
