World Series Game 3 | Milwaukee Brewers at Tampa Bay Rays | Tropicana Field | Mon Oct 26, 8:00 PM ET | Fox
MIL leads series 2-0. Tampa Bay is playing tonight with their backs against the wall in their own building, which is either a death sentence or exactly the kind of spot where a 98-64 club wakes up. We're about to find out.
Game 2 Saturday was ugly for the Rays early. Drew Rasmussen threw 89 pitches and got through 3.2 innings, giving up 6 hits, 3 earned, 2 walks. Logan Henderson wasn't sharp either - 3.0 innings, 3 earned, 1 homer allowed - but Milwaukee's pen took over and Aaron Ashby locked it down: 1.2 innings, 1 hit, 0 earned, 3 strikeouts. Sal Frelick had a homer and drove in a run. William Contreras and Jackson Chourio each went 2-5. On the Tampa side, Jonny DeLuca went 2-4 and Liam Hicks had a homer with 2 RBI, but it wasn't enough.
Tonight the pitching matchup is legitimately interesting. Robert Gasser goes for Milwaukee - ESPN has him at 1.00 ERA, no wins, no losses in this number set. Tampa counters with Freddy Peralta, 2-0, 1.08 ERA. Those are filthy numbers from both guys.
DraftKings had Tampa at -121 to open, sitting at -118 now. Milwaukee opened +101, now -102. Total opened at 7 and sits at 7. Sharp money has nudged Milwaukee to a slight favorite, which tells you something about how the market reads Peralta vs. Gasser tonight.
The real question is whether Tampa's bullpen can hold a game long enough for their offense to find something, because Milwaukee's relief corps has been the difference in this series.
Rays fans - do you trust Peralta to give you 6-plus innings and change the complexion of this series, or is the pen situation the bigger concern tonight?
