Tampa Bay 4, Milwaukee 3 — Tropicana Field
Rays keep their season going. TB wins Game 4 last night to cut the deficit to 3-1, but Milwaukee still has its hand on the trophy.
Dustin May was out of there after 3.0 innings — 3 H, 2 ER, 39 pitches. Not the start the Brewers needed. Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby cleaned it up after him though: Uribe gave you 2.0 clean, Ashby was filthy — 2.1 innings, 0 hits, 3 K. The bullpen held the door. The problem is Shane Drohan ends up with the loss, so somebody in between those two let this thing slip.
On the Tampa side, Griffin Jax went 4.0 innings, 6 K, but walked 2 and gave up a homer — 74 pitches to get through 4. Nick Martinez and Bryan Baker each threw 2.0 innings of shutout ball after him. Ian Seymour gets the W.
Cooper Pratt went 4-5 with a homer and 2 RBI for Milwaukee — that's your offensive bright spot in a loss. David Hamilton also went deep. Jackson Chourio was 2-6 with 2 strikeouts, which you don't love in a must-not-lose spot.
For Tampa, Chandler Simpson was 3-5 with an RBI doing his thing at the top. Liam Hicks went 2-5 but didn't drive anything in.
MIL leads 3-1. Series heads back to Milwaukee. Brewers need one. Rays need three.
So what's the read — does Tampa have enough in the tank to pull off three straight, or is this thing done?
