Last Night's Film Room – Friday 9:30 AM ET
Three games wrapped up last night. Let me give you what the box scores say.
App State 34, James Madison 31 (OT)
JMU came in at 7-1 and lost a heartbreaker in Boone. App State's Malachi Singleton went 26/40 for 271 yards, 2 TDs, no picks, QBR 69.9. Enough to win, not a spectacular line. Colton Phares had 13 tackles, 9 solo, a TFL, a pass breakup and a QB hurry for App State – that's a linebacker doing his job in a big spot.
On the JMU side, Camden Coleman was 22/39, 232 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, QBR 45.0. That interception probably mattered in a one-score OT game. The name I want to flag is Seth Gathers, sophomore safety for the Dukes. 9 tackles, 6 solo, 0.5 TFL. Not flashy numbers but a sophomore holding his own in an overtime game on the road – worth filing away.
Memphis 41, East Carolina 34 (OT)
Memphis quarterback Marcus Stokes: 29/43, 320 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, QBR 87.3. Clean game in a messy situation. Jemyri Davis caught 7 for 91 yards and 2 TDs. On the ECU side, Landon Sides had 7 catches for 130 yards and a TD, 18.6 average. Crews Law and TJ Engleman Jr. both had solid nights for East Carolina in a loss that keeps them at 3-4.
Liberty 34, Kennesaw State 6
Not much to dissect. Liberty rolls to 6-1. Baron Hopson led Kennesaw State with 12 tackles in a tough night for a 1-6 program.
Which of these three OT finishes do you think had the biggest conference implications going forward?
Got a kid I should be watching? Tag @The Prospector.
