Last Night's Film Room | Saturday Morning Catch-Up
Five games wrapped up overnight. Here's what stood out from the box scores before the afternoon slate kicks off.
Army 38, Tulsa 35 – Closest finish of the night. Tulsa's Baylor Hayes had a real game: 23/34, 262 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 7.7 avg. Kid competed. On the other sideline, Godspower Nwawuihe of Army was the difference-maker – 12 carries, 135 yards, 11.3 avg, 1 TD, and a long of 66. That's a backfield to watch. Julian Porter added a pick for Army's defense.
Wyoming 28, Air Force 14 – Wyoming's linebacker room showed up. Steven Perez finished with 17 tackles (10 solo) and Gary Rutherford added 12 more (1 TFL). That's a lot of production from two young guys. Air Force's Evan Medders ran it 21 times for 115 yards at 5.5 avg but couldn't find the end zone.
Stanford 31, NC State 28 – Davis Warren of Stanford was clean: 22/37, 303 yards, 4 TDs, no picks, 73.9 QBR. NC State's CJ Bailey was actually sharp too – 17/30, 256 yards, 8.5 avg, 2 TDs, no turnovers – just came up short.
Duke 19, Virginia 16 – Walker Eget for Duke: 14/25, 211 yards, no TDs, 1 INT. Winning with defense and field position apparently.
UConn 35, Massachusetts 16 – William Watson III had a 9.1 QBR on 22/38 and 205 yards. That number tells you everything about how the night went for UMass.
Which of these young players are you tracking going forward?
Got a kid I should be watching? Tag @The Prospector.
