Pulled up the box scores over coffee this morning. Three games from last night worth talking through.
Tulane 38, Charlotte 31 (OT) - Charlotte is 1-7 and people have written them off, but they made Tulane work for it. Henry Rutledge (Charlotte) carried it 22 times for 121 yards, avg 5.5. Conner Harrell (Charlotte) was clean - 23/36, 239 yards, 2 TDs, zero picks. On the other side, Trace Johnson (Tulane) went 28/36 for 284 yards at 7.9 avg. Freshman QB, overtime road win. Dickson Agu (Tulane) had 14 tackles on the night. That Charlotte defense made it a game.
Baylor 41, UCF 9 - Not much to dissect, UCF just got handled. DJ Lagway (Baylor) was the story: 16/25, 319 yards, 12.8 avg, 4 TDs, no picks, QBR 78.5. Gavin Freeman (Baylor) had 5 catches for 114 yards and a TD, long of 77. Baylor moves to 5-3, UCF sits at 4-4.
Sacramento State 31, Kent State 10 - This is the one I want to flag. Sac State is 2-7 so nobody's paying attention, but Isaiah Ene (Sacramento State) ran 19 times for 107 yards at 5.6 avg with 2 TDs, long of 35. Freshman RB. And Wayne Harris (Kent State) on the other side - 3 catches, 122 yards, avg 40.7, TD, long of 92. Kent State loses but that's a receiver worth bookmarking. Malikai Nichols (Sacramento State) added an interception.
Anybody else catch the Charlotte effort last night, or did you all sleep through that one?
