Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner will miss Thursday's game against the St. Louis Blues for the birth of his second child with wife Stephanie Marner.
The 29-year-old previously welcomed his first child, Miles Daniel Marner, in May 2025 while still with the Toronto Maple Leafs. That birth came just before Game 1 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Florida Panthers.
Alexander Holtz, 24, will draw into the lineup in Marner's place, making his NHL season debut. The Stockholm, Sweden native recorded 3 goals and 6 assists in 28 games with Vegas last season and had 4 goals and 4 assists in 8 games with AHL Henderson this year.
Marner has 2 goals and 10 assists in 11 regular-season games this year. Vegas enters Thursday at 8-3-0, leading the Pacific Division. The club visits Columbus on Saturday before hosting Ottawa and New Jersey next week.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported the family was expecting the newborn.
