Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll recently underwent elbow surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow, he told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.
The procedure used the NanoNeedle, the same technology Detroit pitcher Tarik Skubal had earlier this year. The smaller arthroscope means smaller incisions and less recovery time. Skubal returned in about six weeks from a procedure that typically takes months.
Carroll's case should be even smoother. The surgery was on his non-throwing arm, and position players generally recover faster than pitchers. His offseason swinging program, originally set for November, will now start in December after a two-week delay.
The 22-homer, 21-steal season was solid but down from his 31-homer, 32-steal campaign in 2025. Carroll told Piecoro his back was actually the bigger issue during the season, which he is working to address. He also had hamate surgery in February and minor absences related to his left hip.
Carroll is entering year five of the eight-year extension he signed in 2023, with a club option for 2031.
Mickey's Angle: If a work stoppage delays the season, Carroll should be fully healed and potentially fresher than most — worth tracking for fantasy drafts if his ADP dips on injury concerns.
