The Rockies have sent right-hander RJ Petit back to the Tigers just before he would have fulfilled the Rule 5 retention requirements. Petit spent the entire 2026 season on the 60-day injured list recovering from Tommy John surgery and never pitched for Colorado. The move costs the Rockies his roster spot but preserves his original club control for Detroit.
