Brothers and sisters, it's Monday evening and we've got one game tonight. Let's break down what you need to know before kickoff at 8:15 ET.
Commanders at 49ers — Levi's Stadium, ESPN/ABC
San Francisco opened as a 5.5-point favorite on DraftKings. Right now they're sitting at -7. That spread has moved right onto 7, which is one of the key numbers in this league. The total opened at 50.5 and is now 51.5, so the books are expecting a little more scoring, not less.
Weather is a non-factor tonight: 65 degrees, intermittent clouds at Levi's. Both teams had 8 days of rest, so no short-week angle either way.
Now here's what matters on the Washington side. The Commanders placed starting RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Commanders RB) on injured reserve with a groin injury, per ESPN headline. That's their starter, gone for at least four games. On top of that, WR Stefon Diggs (Commanders WR) is questionable with a hamstring, and DE Charles Omenihu (Commanders DE) is out with a groin. S Nick Cross (Commanders S) is also questionable, illness.
For San Francisco: WR Mike Evans (49ers WR) is questionable with ribs, CB Upton Stout (49ers CB) is questionable with a shoulder, and S Marques Sigle (49ers S) is out with an ankle.
Washington is 1-3-1. San Francisco is 5-0. The books don't do us any favors, and tonight they moved the line right onto 7.
What it means for you: In the NFL, 3 and 7 are the margins where a half-point matters most; the spread is sitting on 7 right now, so shop multiple books because not every book will have the same number.
What do you all think — does losing Croskey-Merritt change how you're looking at this one?
