The 2026 NBA offseason concludes Monday ahead of Tuesday's regular season opener, with multiple deadlines forcing teams into final decisions.
The rookie scale extension window closes at 5:00 p.m. Central time. Of 23 eligible players entering the offseason, five signed new deals: Victor Wembanyama, Amen Thompson, Keyonte George, Ausar Thompson and Brandin Podziemski. Cam Whitmore and Jordan Hawkins were waived earlier. Cason Wallace reached agreement with the Thunder on Sunday, and Oso Ighodaro agreed to a Suns extension as Phoenix exercises his 2027/28 team option. Fifteen players remain eligible, including Black, Coulibaly, Henderson, Jaquez, Lively and Miller.
Veteran extensions for players on non-expiring contracts also close at 10:59 p.m. CT Monday. LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels must sign by then or wait until next July. Donte DiVincenzo, on an expiring deal, may extend through June 30, 2027. Rudy Gobert holds a 2027/28 player option and must decline it to extend later this season.
Rosters must be finalized by 4:00 p.m. CT, with standard contracts capped at 15 and two-way spots at three. The Mavericks, Rockets, Lakers and Bucks carry 16 standard contracts; the Grizzlies hold 17. Houston could comply by converting Oscar Tshiebwe or Julian Phillips from Exhibit 10 to two-way status. The Suns' Duop Reath faces similar conversion. Monday also marks the final day for 2026/27 sign-and-trades, with none reported.
