Saquon Barkley will remain with the Philadelphia Eagles through the trade deadline, sources told NFL Network, ending weeks of speculation about the star running back's future.
The 2-5 Eagles have fielded calls and discussed moving several players as general manager Howie Roseman explores options to acquire future draft capital. However, the team has informed interested clubs that Barkley is unavailable.
Barkley, 29, has two years and just over $35 million remaining on his contract. The Eagles believe their roster still contains enough talent to remain competitive in 2027 and beyond, making the running back part of their long-term foundation.
With Barkley off the market, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor becomes the top available option for teams seeking backfield help before the November 10 deadline.
Barkley is expected to suit up Sunday night against the Washington Commanders despite ongoing back and hamstring issues. He missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but participated on a limited basis Friday. He played just 10 snaps in Monday's loss to Dallas.
"I like playing football. So if I have an opportunity to play, I'm going to try my best to play," Barkley said Friday.
Mickey's Angle: Barkley playing hurt on a losing team tells you everything about his value to the Eagles' rebuild—he's the guy they're building around, not the guy they're shipping out.
