The NFL has suspended Bills safety Sam Franklin for one game following an incident during last Sunday's victory over the Raiders.
The league announced Wednesday that Franklin spit at an opposing player after Las Vegas converted an extra point with 1:32 remaining in the contest. He is the second Buffalo safety disciplined for the infraction, joining C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Franklin has the right to appeal the suspension. According to Sal Capaccio of WGR, Franklin plans to do so and "vehemently denies" the allegation.
Because Buffalo is on its bye this week, Franklin would sit out the Week 8 matchup against the Ravens if the ban stands. He has appeared in all six games this season exclusively on special teams, recording six tackles.
Mickey's Angle: Franklin's absence would thin Buffalo's special teams depth, but with a bye to prepare, the Bills have time to adjust their coverage units before hosting Baltimore.
