The Los Angeles Chargers placed defensive back Derwin James on injured reserve Saturday, ruling him out until at least Nov. 29.

James has not played since Sept. 27, missing four games with a hamstring injury. Coach Jim Harbaugh said earlier this week that the five-time Pro Bowler suffered a setback in his rehab.

To fill the roster spot, the Chargers signed cornerback Isas Waxter from the practice squad. Waxter has two tackles this season across 17 defensive snaps and 19 special teams snaps in two games.

The team also elevated cornerback Kaiir Elam from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Elam has not played this season but has 43 career appearances over five seasons.

Mickey's Angle: The Chargers defense takes a major hit losing their tone-setter for at least four more games. Bettors should weigh how LA handles coverage without James before backing them in November matchups.
