Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. is facing a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge after a traffic stop on October 12 in Carmel, Indiana, according to court records.
Richardson was pulled over by a Carmel patrol officer due to questions about his car's registration. The officer reported smelling marijuana in the vehicle. According to the affidavit, Richardson told the officer he had smoked in the car to avoid doing so at home around his children.
Officers searched his Dodge Charger and found a small amount of marijuana and 500-milligram THC-infused gummies in the glove compartment. Richardson was handcuffed and detained during the search but was released without arrest. He received a citation for expired registration and a summons for marijuana possession.
The Hamilton County prosecutor's office filed the charge Monday. A bench trial is scheduled for January 4.
The Colts released a brief statement: "We are aware of the situation involving Anthony Richardson and are currently gathering additional information. We will have no further comment at this time."
Mickey's Angle: This is a legal matter to monitor for fantasy and betting purposes, as any league discipline could affect Richardson's availability down the stretch.
