The Indianapolis Colts roster overhaul continues. A day after trading guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, wide receiver Josh Downs has formally requested a trade, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Downs, a 2023 third-round pick, is in the final year of his contract. He had already appeared on speculative trade lists ahead of the November 10 deadline, so his request may not complicate interim General Manager Ed Dodds's efforts to accumulate future assets.
This season, Downs has 26 catches for 307 yards. For his career, he has 224 receptions for 2,447 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Running back Jonathan Taylor, who signed a two-year extension this summer, has also surfaced frequently in trade discussions despite not being in a contract year. If both Downs and Taylor are moved, the Colts would be executing a significant roster teardown. That scenario would benefit the New York Jets, who hold Indianapolis's first-round pick in the 2027 draft.
Mickey's Angle: The Colts are clearly selling everything not nailed down; keep an eye on their 2027 first-rounder becoming more valuable by the week.
