Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn quad during Sunday's game.
Hamilton was carted off the field, and the team fears the worst. He is scheduled for additional testing to confirm the diagnosis, according to Ian Rapoport.
The 6-foot-4, 335-pound Hamilton had started every game this season and was playing well. He also demonstrated his versatility by filling in at long snapper for one game.
Hamilton, a 2020 third-round pick, has spent his entire career with Jacksonville. He is set to become a free agent following this season, making the timing of this injury particularly unfortunate for both player and team.
The Jaguars will need to find a way to replace a key piece of their defensive front.
Mickey's Angle: Jacksonville's run defense takes a hit here, and with Hamilton heading for free agency, his market value just took a dent. Keep an eye on how the Jaguars shuffle their line rotation.
