Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings turned down a chance to return to the San Francisco 49ers despite a trade framework already being in place, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
Jennings was set to reunite with Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy after the teams arranged a deal. All that remained was a FaceTime call with Shanahan and general manager John Lynch for final approval. Jennings declined, opting to remain with the 5-0 Vikings instead.
The decision comes despite minimal involvement in Minnesota's offense. Jennings has played 70.5% of offensive snaps but caught just four passes for 43 yards through five games.
The 49ers could have used the help. Their receiver room is battered, with Mike Evans nursing rib and Achilles issues and Deebo Samuel out with a hamstring injury.
Jennings spent five seasons in San Francisco, catching 210 passes for 2,581 yards and 22 touchdowns. He posted career highs in 2024 (975 receiving yards) and 2025 (nine touchdowns), ranking second on the team in receptions and yards behind George Kittle over the past two seasons.
Jennings signed a one-year, incentive-laden deal worth up to $13 million with Minnesota after hitting free agency this past offseason.
Mickey's Angle: Jennings is betting on team success over personal stats and a familiar offense, but fantasy managers should look elsewhere until his target share shifts dramatically.
