Florida Panthers goaltender Jacob Markstrom will miss 10 to 14 days after being struck by a puck during practice Monday.
Coach Paul Maurice confirmed only that Markstrom was "hit with a puck," offering no additional detail on the injury. Markstrom has posted a 3-1-1 record with a 2.21 goals-against average, .897 save percentage and one shutout through six starts this season.
The Panthers recalled Cooper Black from AHL Charlotte to fill the void. The 6-foot-8 netminder will make his NHL debut during a four-game road swing beginning Wednesday in Ottawa. When he first starts, Black will become the tallest goaltender in league history. He went 25-13-4 with Charlotte last season.
Defenseman Radko Gudas is expected to return Wednesday after missing three games with an undisclosed injury. The Panthers face the Senators at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Florida acquired Markstrom and Angus Crookshank from New Jersey this past offseason in exchange for Evan Rodrigues, Jesper Boqvist and Ben Steeves.
